  An example of a Greater Yellowstone Coalition bear and wolf outing:

  This outing was given June 2-6, 1996. It is during the first week of June when the Lamar Valley blossoms with elk calving and the predatory activities of bears, wolves, and coyotes can be readly observed. The daily schedule is early morning scoping followed by hikes into the interior of the Lamar Valley. My wife and I along with 10 others took part in this outing and consider much of what we saw once in a lifetime experiences. How often do you see a black bear bounce on an elk calf only hundreds of yards away and then watch it drag its prey away to eat? After the bear left its kill, we went up to check out the remains only to find that the bear had only munched a little bit into the abdomen and as it turns out was not far away on a ledge. As we slowly backed out of there I took a picture of the bear's profile.
